Professor Rhodri Williams from Swansea University works in the fields of non-Newtonian Fluid Mechanics, rheology, haemorheology, nanotechnology and cavitation with special reference to process/chemical engineering instrumentation and theoretical developments relevant to the liquid state. In 2012 he was awarded an Enterprise Fellowship by the Royal Academy of Engineering for his development of new blood clot diagnostics and sensors. He is President of the British Society of Rheology (2013-2015) and lead author of over 130 papers. His work has also led to recognition though major awards from the Royal Society (Brian Mercer Award), the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) Industry Award for Innovation and Excellence, the Annual Award of the British Society of Rheology and the ICI/AkzoNobel Strategic Technology Award.
